It looks like Kawasaki has sized the Teryx in between the Rhino and the Prowler, with RZR horsepower. This may be the new king of mixed-use (utility & recreation) UTV's. With the RZR holding down the pure-sport end of things, where does this leave Yamaha? This should be interesting.

It is lame.
No EFI, is there even power steering? Not enough of a jump from the Rhino to make anyone who has a Rhino with any money in it want to get one. |

I don't think it is lame. They took a lot of the goodies from the rhino and added their own mix. The brute force drivetrain is awesome, plus 500 lbs in the bed. I love the aggressive look. I think a test drive is warranted. Did you get a look at the NRA edition?

| I think it's great, this was a much needed addition to the Kawasaki line up. The Mule is still my number one pick, although if I could have two in my garage, the other would be a Rhino or the TERYX 750. |

| Like I said It looks better than the Rhino but I would still buy a Rhino/RZR for the Narrowness before I bought this thing. Yes they needed it in their lineup to compete with the Rhino but it won't compete with the RZR, as some ppl lead us to believe. |

So let me get this straight. This thing has a sweet V-Twin and more load capacity and basically looks like a rhino, but better ( your words)So it is pretty much a Rhino clone with a V-twin 750 and you still consider it lame
So, if Kawasaki "dropped the ball" I would have to say Yamaha has Lost the Ball !!!
You can have the single cylinder 660 engine, I will take the V-Twin 750 thank you... |

i agree 100% and what will i be missing the most, squeaking front brakes , grinding rear brakes ,gutless oil consuming single cylinder motor? I will take the v-twin any day over my rhino

I will be buying one. I have a Brute 750 and the power is awesome. I cannot wait.
Any Current Rhino owner who claims that it is "lame" needs re-think what they just said....and I am a Rhino owner. More power, more capacity and good looking IMO.

Hmm..reading about it, sounds like they use some sort of front brake action to limit 1 wheel from slipping and change to the other. My biggest complaint about the mules is the worthless front limit slip. I'd want to see how this works before I bought one. Dave 04 3010 diesel 07 610 |

You guys sound as if the Rhino isn't the best thing out there!! Mmmmmmm, are you on the right site? It is still lame, from what I understand most Rhino owners bought the Rhino over anything else is because of the size, 54" and some performance. I never said this Kawi would a poor performer, that 750 brute motor is good, but it seems that there target is still that Utility market with some performance and certainly lame as an answer to the RZR. Lame to still be a carb when everyone else(and the consumer are asking for) is doing EFI on their new machines. Lame to not be as narrow as the top selling SideXSide (rhino) but infact wider. that just doesn't make sense. Lame with only 7.5" of clearance.. Yes it looks good, looks like what I would expect Rhino to look like for 08'. I wonder if Yamy will be doing a whole new look? |

Too bad Kawi went so big with this. It sort of looks like the 610 when you look at the plastics under the seat and the front bumper. What's up with this hand lever traction control thing ? At least it has engine braking.. It comes with the 26" tires but it still has less ground clearance that the Rhino. It didn't mention anything about a fuel gauge.
Yamaha announced their 2008 ATVs on their website this morning and I don't see many changes. It will be interesting to se Yamaha's 2008 side x side announcement.

Yep, I'm on the right site. It is UORC not rhino offroad.com I have owned my rhino for 3 years and If this Kawi is considered lame then my rhino has to be totally enemic. It is basically the exact same as the rhino WITH a V-Twin !!! so how can it be a lesser machine if the only real difference is that one is a single cylinder and one is a V-Twin??? oh and I would trade 4" of width for a twin any day... ALOT of Ranger owners don't seem to have a problem with width. Your right, we rhino owners do sometimes sound like the rhino isn't the best thing out there, and you know what, It might not be after seeing the RZR and now the new Kawi But, you never know, this Kawi could lay a big turd and be total junk. who knows until we ride them?? .. Yamaha better step it up for 08' or it could be #3 behind the RZR and the Kawi in the fun factor category...
BTW, it has 11.2" of clearance, not 7.5" |

Kawasaki will probably do pretty well with this. If the width is not an issue the Teryx is a nicer looking alternative to a Ranger XP and a faster and nicer looking alternative to a 3010 Mule. Too bad it doesn't have EFI and an open rear dif mode.
I guess the closest competitor would be the Prowler.
We will still have to wait for the road tests and price on the Teryx and Yamaha's 2008 announcments before we know how the Teryx will fare againat the Rhino in the marketplace.
I can't imagine too many guys cancelling their RZR order to get a Teryx but there will be some.
The Teryx and the RZR are both great news for side x side enthusiasts and hopefully just the tip of the iceberg..

| Let's see, four inches wider. I bet that most rhino owners that have put on aftermarket tires and wheels have added two inches to each side. Especially if you are running spacers. I admit that 4 inches is a big deal to me as I ride with ATV's and am the only UTV in the bunch, there have been many times they go and I go home because I cant get through the trees. I would consider a rzr next year depending on what Yamaha does, but only because it is narrower. If I could get down to the magic 50 inch width that is legal here in MT, I would have to take a hard look. A better option would be to convince the Forest Service to change the rules by a few inches. |

| I can't wait to here more about it. I would like to see some video footage with one in action. I still like the looks of the rzr, but I also like this new machine. anyway I just like side x sides. I enjoy riding with a large group of them, any make. I have a rhino for now, but who knows what I'll get in the futurzr. |

| I like it. Sealed rear brake is a miajor upgrade from the rhino. Not to mention the v-twin. If you think a single cylinder is anywhere close to as powerful as a v-twin you are crazy. I think Kawi nailed it. I do not like the rzr, but this looks great. And the sound of that v-twin........mmmmmmmmmm |

| You know Yamaha will consider this a threat and most likely make a few changes probably add 760cc-800cc (might use their 700cc EFI but that might not be big enough) among other thing and then they still own the utility/sport market. I think the pure "sport" market will have to prove it's existence for more than Polaris to chase those $$$. I am a pure "Sport" SxS guy so I will be looking forward to picking up my RZR at the end of the month. Honestly, I see Rhino 08 when I looked and read about Kawi's new SxS didn't you? |
