Installation instructions for Grizzly CDI with the Rhino digi-guage, with mod box.

Lets start by building the Mod box; you are going to need the following parts that can be bought at most Radio Shack Stores.

1 276-1771 7812-12V DC Voltage Regulator
1 272-999 10uF-Electrolytic Capacitor
2 272-1053 .1uF-Metalized-Film Capacitor
1 270-1801 Project Box
1 276-148a Dual General-Purpose PC Board

The dual general-purpose board I used will need to be broken in half and the sides of the board will have to be notched to fit in the box. Next, take the regulator (276-1771) and bend the outer legs outward and then turn the ends downward.

The next step is to mount the regulator to the board.

Now the 10uF-Electrolytic capacitor. (272-999)

Add the two 1uF-Metalized-Film Capacitors. (272-1053 )

Flip the board over and it should look like this.

Bend the ends of the wires back through the holes like this.

Solder 3 wires through the wire hoops you just made.

Next, drill 3 holes for the wires to go through the project box, (270-1801).

Put the wires through the holes.

Finally, install the cover and have a beer.

Installation instructions For the Rhino with Digital guages.

Begin by removing the battery cover. Next, remove the CDI unit from the passenger side of the battery box.

Now cut that wire approximately 2 inches from the plug and install a female wire connector on the wire leading back to the CDI. Next, install a male connector on the wire going into the wiring harness.

Next, is to hook the green wire from the black box to the blue & yellow wire going into the harness; the other wire leading back to the CDI is left alone and can be used if original Rhino CDI is installed back into your Rhino.

Next, locate the two blue relays plugs that don't have any relays in them. These two relays were removed when the digital unit was installed.

We have two more wires to hook up. Lets use the blue block with the darker wires going into it. The red wire from the box will plug into the blue relay block and line up with the brown wire going in (12 volt). The black wire will line up and plug into the black-leading into that same blue block ( - ). Now all you need to do is tuck the box somewhere inside the battery box area, install the cover, you're done!

Caution install wiring as described, be extra careful not to ground the green wire coming out of the box, when power is applied to the box. Please also note the red wire is powered with the key on only.

Thank you, and have fun! Most important ride carefully.
